Down under indeed

Weeks has passed so quickly, it's hard to believe I've been here almost a month! It feels so similar than America, yet there's quite many differences too.

I spent three weeks in Melbourne. Melbourne is so beautiful and nice city! It reminds me a lot of Los Angeles with all those beach board walks, multible little shops and stores and fancy suburbs with vivid nightlife. City centre (or CBD like they call it in here) is busy, filled up with tourists wondering around and locals hurrying to work/school/shopping.

The weather was pretty bad when I first arrived -was raining and temperature was only around +15c. Luckily my friend Kati was able to borrow me a jacket and other warm clothes that I didn't need to freeze out ;) Now the weather is warming up, nights might get pretty cold but it's about +25-35c during daytime :)

Kati and Ben has a nice little place in St. Kilda (area full of action) and I was able to stay with them. Days in Mel were very laid back. I slept long, did some cleaning while watching morning TV, then headed out to explore the city or get connected to outher world with free internet in library. Later maybe more shopping, chillin out and enjoying Ben's delicious cookings (he's a chef, and words can't describe how tasty and fancy meals I was able to eat every day!!).

Internet is probably only thing so far that I can complain -Aussies don't have good plans for internet -either mobile or wireless. Only few public places has a free Wi-Fi, and mostly they are running slow. I got a prepaid plan to my cell, with 30aud I only got 500MB, so obiovsly it didnt last 30days, it took only 16days to run it down.. ;) luckily i got a tip of better contract that I'll get when I am able to go to some bigger place.

And that's because a week ago I packed my bags and took a bus to place called Tumblong Tavern! It is located at Tumblong road, in a town called (surprisingly) Tumblong! This is a little community with about 80people in total. Next town Guandagai is about 15km away, with stunning population of 2000people :P But so far I like it here! Pub is surrounded by fields and front of the place goes big highway (connects Melbourne and Sydney so there's traffic 24/7). Atmosphere is very laid back, some locals dropping in for a beer or two every now and then. During daytime I'm mostly cleaning up (yep,me,cleaning..hard to believe..) or helping with other stuff, like now for the past few days I've been painting outside. Not complaining, fun work and able to sunbath at the same time! ;)

Usually on Fridays it gets more busy since locals gathers here with their families to have a few beer, gossip and just hang out. I enjoy the slower days because you get a change to talk with people and just relax. And boy it will take some time to understand what these people are talking about!! Aussie acsent is sooooo different than US one, and they seem to have whole dictionary full of their own words and phrases -for example the sentence that one fellow said today: G'day mate! Can I have a stubbie of VB? Hmm... Well yeah he was just greeting me and asking for a bottle of certain beer.. :D sure thing you'll get that! :) but I'm getting there, and luckily these people are very happy to help!

Well I think that's for now. Time to get some sleep to be ready to work again in the morning ;) Hope i'll hear from you as well!

Take care :)
