Hi folks,
Since some of you might not understand all my stories in Finnish, I will do my best to write some summaries in English every now and then :)
I arrived to my first destination, Hong Kong, last Sunday. It has been interestig week for sure! I haven't been in Asia before so all this is weird and new for me. I'm staying at my friend's place in Hong Kong island. You'll remember Linda who was doing intern in LA at the same time with me? :)
Hong Kong is a weird mix of Chinese and Western cultures. I have a strange feeling that I'm back in the States when I'm walking at the malls. But the chinese text and chinese people will burn that image down pretty fast. The streets are packed, they smell (worse than NYC at the summer, at least some points), and the traffic is a left sided and jammed many times. I've been going around the main tourist atractions such as the Peak (pic of the beautiful skyline of HK), Night market and Ladies' market (you know those alleys full of little booths selling all chinese stuff...), Chinese Walk Of Fame and pier area with fantastic views.
We've gone out few times and it's so much fun here! Like on Wed ladies drink free (!) in some bars ;) food is great despite my annoying allergy of seafood. Luckily Linda's colleague is chinese and he wrote me a note about it -I never understood how much Oyster / Fish sauce has been used in Asian dishes! Best culinary moment so far has been on Friday, when we went to a Michelin star restaurant. Dumblings there were Amazing!! And it costed less than 20€ for three people to eat there, so the prizes are super low as well!
The funniest day has been this Saturday. We got lucky when Linda's friend Mickey was able to get us in to a "junk boat" that was organized by his niece. Junk boat is very traditional thing to do for locals, but tourist usually don't get to participate -so I was really lucky girl!! Main idea is that everyone pays a fee, the boat will be some nice "yach" that will take the group to some swimming destination at the Hong kong archipelago. Then people just chill out' drink, eat, listen to music and swim the whole day. Drinks and food are included so you don't need to worry about anything :) After a great day we decided to go out to eat, and finally ended up to dance the night off at the clubs...
Now I have 2more days to go here, then I'll fly to new adventures at Bali.. :)
You'll see the pics from my finnish blog updates, please feel free to search ;) And I hope I'll receive many messages in FB to hear how are You doing!!
Xoxo and rock'n'roll!
-Anu-
