Are you afraid of the sharks?

I'm back in Bali! After a fantastic week in Gili Trawangan I took a boat back to main land. The island life is so different from the life here in Bali. It was very quiet, very clean and relaxed athmosphere. The biggest noice there was prayers from the mosque (five times a day!!) and roosters "singing" constantly in the morning (it's bulls**t that they sing only when the sun goes up..).

However, the biggest thing was absolutely to accomplish Open Water Course in scuba diving! I've been thinking about it for a while but never really had a chance to see if I can really do it. As you may know, I'm very afraid of water and kinda freakin' out every time my face goes under the water (yep, taking a shower is sometimes a real adventure).

But I'm sooooo happy that I decided to give it a try! My teachers were awesome, A-An and Anna were so professional, calm and willing to explain things over and over again until we understood the point! We spent the first day in the pool, practicing just basic skill such as cleaning the mask and emptying the regulator. Second day we went to our first dive in the sea, and man it was scary and cool! In my opinion we looked hilarious, everyone fighting to find a neutral beyonce and how to swim without moving arms (didn't work that well). But I guess we did ok. And the life over there -it's just breathtaking! Visibility was great (about 25m) so all fishes around us were bright and full of color. We saw snappers, giant turtles, clownfishes, angel fishes, and a baby shark, just to name few. Some of us were lucky and saw a big whitetip tail shark (?), but I was busy just to survive in the back row, so I missed the big fish :(

Second day was even more fun, since I was starting to get the point and was able to focus more to sealife around me. We went to 18m depth, and were able to spot octopus on the way back up :) ou, and 5 baby sharks, crazy feeling to look at them when they are just about 20cm away from your face.. :D

After those 4dives was time to party, and it was fun night! Ate, danced and drinked a lot ;) following morning I needed to take the boat bact to Bali, that wasn't so fun.. Because of delays the journey took about 7hrs in total.

Now I'm staying in a hostel in Seminyak. Linda and her relatives came here for a vacation as well, they have a fancy villa where I've been most of the time. It's so nice just chill and enjoy the sun & good company. Yesterday I went to the Double Six beach, hanged out in a cool bar called La Plancha and enjoyed the views ;) I tried to boogie board but that wasn't my thing -I got scraches all over, almost lost my bikini and got bruises to my nose and forehead :D

Today we did a daytrip to Upud, visited in a Monkey Forest (aren't they adorable?!?) and just walked around. Upud looked like a very nice city but I think I'm going to stay close to the beach the rest of the vacation here.. Tomorrow we're going to have a girls' day, heading to spa for some nice massage, manicyre, pedicyre and hair treatments, wuhuu!! Life is so hard every now and then ;)

Wow, long story again, sorry, but I can't help myself :)) hope you're doing fine and I hope I'll hear some news again :)

XOXO
